Is the handling and suspension similar for the bikes ? ie do both engines share the same frame ?

No, they are different platforms. The 750/4 is based on the KZ650.

Anyone had any luck with after market shocks for the kz 650 and 750s ? I am kind of a fat A , about 225 , occasionally ride 2 up. I bottom the shocks on most bumps. A while back I read where a guy modified some auto shocks pretty cheaply for replacements. Anyone have any experiance doing this ?

I'm 6'4", weigh about 240 lbs. I got a set of shocks on eBay that came off of a new Sportster. Harley guys buy a new Sporty and immediately pull the stock 13" shocks and replace them with 11" shocks to lower the rear end. I got my set for $25 plus $10 for shipping. They're brand new, and were probably made in the same Showa factory that my original shocks were made in. Since the Sportster is a heavier bike, the springs are a bit firmer, so I've backed the preload down to the middle notch (I've always had to set them to max on stock shocks). The only thing you have to do is press out the rubber bushing from the Sportster shocks and press in the bushings from your KZ shocks and Bob's your uncle.

The KZ750 twin is more closely related to the KZ1000 than it is to the KZ650/750 fours.

You'll find many more 1000 frame and suspension parts that will fit the 750 twin than you will 650/750 four parts.

Thanks again. I learn a lot every time I get on the sight.

Will definetly keep my eyes open for the harley shocks.

Sounds like the way to go.
