On Tuesday myself and the dog are going to take a road trip to Illinois to pick up the 77 650 C-1 I bought the other day. I've had my eye on an 81 CSR 305 that was listed on ebay, the listing was ending tonight. I got off work, came home, cracked open a cold one and refreshed the page....WTF the listing was gone.:S I had already contacted the seller to get pics so I emailed him, turns out ebay pulled the listing because it was listed in the parts bike section but it had a title. Anyway we made a deal over the phone and it is only 50 miles or so away from the 650 I'm going after.

I'm thrilled with this latest find, I'm sure it will need a carb clean and a battery but cosmetically it looks almost new. So it looks like the Kaw herd now numbers 17. I think my wife thinks I only have 10 so I'm going to tell her this one is for you Mi Amor. I truthfully don't know if she is going to have any interest in riding or not, I don't know if she can even drive a car, but hey it's the thought that counts right guys?

Now I need to find a KV 75 for the 8 year old, the problem is they always bring retarded money or they are too far away.

Here is a pic of the right side.

Well, I'm sure La Gringa will be muy simpatico when she says that nice purchase. Who knows where a little happiness on the part of SWMBO will lead.....;) :P
and if she doesn't quite take to it, you've got a great bike to flip to a new rider and, coincidentally, make a few bucks to defray the price of the new C1.....right??:)

KZ650C2 Stock/mint. Goes by "Ace".
H2A Built from a genuine basket case. Yes,it's a hot rod.
GT550A Stock/mint. Pleasant stroker.

Shane your post cracked me up.

Rick I'm not too sure how happy she is going to be and at least for now I'm not planning on telling her. Every time I tell her I bought something in the past it seemed to serve as a trigger for her to start using the Visa card I sent her.   As for selling it in the future I'm not too concerned about that. I didn't pay much for either of these two bikes and condition wise they both look like keepers.B)

BTW what is SWMBO short for?

Ahora tu vas a hacer el amor con tus nuevos amantes porque en la cama ya no estas bienvenido. lol to which you will reply oh baby I was thinking of you when I got this bike. Look His and Hers look how nice it looks next to the big bike I ride. To which she will go on hmmm Monta la moto si quieres pero esta noche duermes sobre la sofa.

Thanks for the translation TJ, no wonder I didn't understand it, in my wife's culture that's a concept that doesn't exist. In Colombia the women are all about what they can do for the man, truthfully it makes me a bit uncomfortable, I've been single for so long I'm just not used to being waited on hand and foot.

Sax I don't think there is too much chance of my being asked to sleep on the couch. Since you live in Chicago though I have a question for you. Where in your opinion is the best place to go to get a Chicago style hot dog? I've been researching this on the net and I'm thinking possibly Byron's? Any opinions from a native?

Yeah Mark that speedo is right. Every bike seems to have a story and in this case, in 97 the PO had a tuneup done rode the bike 4 miles and then got served divorce papers. He left, but the bike stayed. The current owner heard about this bike from a friend and bought it from the wife. He's got no interest in re-doing it (he's into Indians and race cars) so he decided to sell it (lucky me). To his credit he told me that one of the bidders he had, buys bikes to part them out and he wasn't going to sell it to this guy. He feels (and rightfully so) that the bike is too nice to be parted out. I of course couldn't agree more.

I'm not looking forward to the drive tomorrow but I am pretty stoked about these two bikes. I don't really know which one has me more excited the 650 C-1 or this little 305. I guess I'll know when I get them both picked up. I have a feeling I'm gonna be grinning all the way home. Stay tuned.B)

Nice score on the 305, Andy! B)

It reminds me of the 305 CSR I bought new in '82, which was my first ever NEW vehicle purchase - 18 years old with a decent paying job, and much to the chagrin of my step-monster, I covinced my Dad into co-signing for me.
I have a lot of fond memories of that little bike, and even remember exactely where I was at when the odo hit 305 miles.

Surprisingly enough, for a little twin it's pretty "spirited" on the freeways. So I doubt your missus-to-be will be dissapointed or have to much trouble keeping up with you if she gets bitten by the bike bug.

The best way I can think of getting your betrothed into m/c's, is to try and get her involved in restoring that little beaut and making it road worthy again, and of course her adding a personal touch to it so it makes it "her" bike. ;)
She'll be hooked in no time, and competing for storage space for all of the "stray" bikes that she'll be bringing home! :woohoo:
