Would you buy Carbon Fiber Case Guards or Side Covers?

Just got layed off... Been thinking about making carbon parts in my garage to get a few bucks on the side. I can do nice work and offer good quality parts.

How about covers for those engine cases that stick out so far? I could make some nice ones that just stick onto the existing covers to protect them if you drop it and look cool too!

Maybe $50 to $100 a pair??

Sidecovers - $70 - $120 a pair??

What do you think, is there a demand for this?

yup, if the shapes aren't way too complex. I don't have the fancy machinery of the big outfits. I could do most bodywork I think.

I am not exactly following you- like a complete new stator cover or points cover- or a cover for those covers? :(

Sidecovers can have some interesting shapes. There are some that are getting rare so a faithful reproduction for certain models would probably be welcome.

covers for covers. kinda like a guard for the aluminum. they wouldn't match the shape of the whole cover. they'd be sort of a cup shape that slips over the cylindrical part that sticks out the side. I've seen these offered for modern sport bikes, but not KZs.

think of a bowl about 5" wide and 1" deep. molded from the aluminum cover so the shape would match exactly.

Interesting.

Got any proto-types, or 'first run' examples to show us?

Not right now, the stuff I made is gone and no pics. But I'm gonna make some new parts soon and I'll post some pics of those.

Here's what I'm talking about. I found this pic on the web. These are made for sportbikes. I would make something similar to these but for KZs.

any way you could make a set of rims? not covers, actual wheels. like the bst carbon fibre rims...

about 11 POUNDS lighter than my stock ALUMINUM rims...and thats rotating weight. removing 1 pound of rotating weight is like taking off 7-8 pounds of static weight...

Nope, sorry that's a little too ambitious for me. The liability issues alone are too scary!
