The seller has posted on KZR before (he may be a member) and I'm not convinced that he is particularly concerned with the 'details' of the sales. He is, afterall, in the business of making money, not restoring bikes. On one of his previous posts, he was selling a (purportedly) KZ1000R1 (= ELR). When he listed the frame VIN on eBay, it turned out to be a 'J' frame rather than an 'R' frame...this was pointed out but he didn't seem particularly concerned, if I recall.

I wonder if it was a frame up restoration by some previous owner? If it was it would explain some of the things you guys spotted. But would not explain the incorrect stripping, rounded bolts, etc. Hmmmmmm....

It's too bad there are people selling things this way. It may be a fantastic KZ1000, but he knows it would be worth more with 11 miles than with 30,000 miles all restored. So he "can't guarantee it has 11 miles", but "it looks like it". Come on now there's no way in the world he doesn't know the truth. He got the Z1 speedo mixed up in the other add so he's got a Z1 with 11 miles on it too somewhere.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

I guess the guy in Norway that bought it for $9,500.00 didn't really care about our opinions...

Like the guy said in his ad - cheaper than a Sportster...

1977 KZ1000 - coolest
1973 Honda CB-750 - oldest
2004 Yamaha FZ1 - fastest
