Now this has me scratching my head :S a 12/79 build date would make it a 1980 but that year Kaw only made 2 models of the 650, the 650 LTD and the 650 F model both of which came with mag wheels. This one has spokes and the paint scheme is from 79 as well.
It's either an oddity as a late-year production '79 KZ650-B model (highly unlikely, or an '80 KZ650-F model.
I'm willing to bet that it's an '80 F model, and the PO simply swapped in a set of spoke wheels and bodywork (direct swap w/o any mods) from a B model because he/she prefered spoked over cast wheels and liked the '79 year paint scheme - it wouldn't be the first time this has been done.
You can stop scratching your head now Gringo.
I say go for it!
Your B2B (bride to be) isn't here in the states yet, right?

As to the B2B the 2B part went away in January when I went down to Cali and we were married. She still does not have her visa yet, unless you count the one I sent her from my bank  . I'm almost hoping that immigration waits till after the snow melts to issue it because right now there are 2 550 LTD's and 2 650's in the downstairs bedroom and the Z-1 Classic is parked in the dining room. I'm down to one 750 LTD on the front porch but I still need to shove the 750 L-3, the 650 CSR and the 650 SR up on the porch. Not sure where I'm gonna put the 650 C-1 I agreed to buy on Monday:S . I would like to buy this bike, the only hesitation at this point is I'm looking at a 900 mile round trip to get it.

Well I just sniped it with 41 seconds remaining    for $255.00 I don't think I did too bad. I'm not looking forward to the drive to go get it though. The good thing is I already have all the stuff I need here to fix it with the exception of a dyno cover gasket. Are you paying attention Bad Kaw? :woohoo:

Okay, so you at least owe us the honor of photos as soon as you get it 'presentable'...right?

It will be a few weeks before I get around to picking it up. With all the holiday parties I'm pretty busy making drinks at the club but come Jan 1st I'll have a few months off to do nothing but mess with my bikes.:woohoo: It doesn't look like it will take much to make this one presentable, I plan to shitcan the ugly crash bar and luggage rack. I'm also going to swap the seat with the one off my C-1. I'm planning on using the charging system off a 750 LTD engine I have laying around. I'm not too sure yet what if any problems that will present but since I have all the stuff including a matching regulator/rectifier I don't figure it will be too difficult to make it work. Cosmetics wise it doesn't look too bad and I'm hoping the carbs were drained after the dealer went thru them. And yes I'll throw up some pics ASAP.
BTW I was chatting with the wifey the other day on MSN messenger and told her I bought another bike, her comment back to me was ....Mas Moto? I'm sure she will get used to this eventually.

Your plans for the new arrival are well received...you know the deal, so many people like bikes b/c of so many different tastes (some may have chosen to keep the crash bar and luggage rack...and I would have thrown up in my own mouth...a lot! )
...and the wife-thing: the love of a good woman is impossible to replace. Well chosen, sir (the wife, not the bike...well, okay, the bike, too; but you know what I mean:lol:).
