KZ1100 back on the road...Almost

Well after owning her for over a year now, I finally found time to tinker with the KZ1100 Spectre a little. Cleaned the carbs,changed the fluids and plugs and after sitting 10+ years she fired right up. The home made manometer didn't work out so I have a new Morgan carbtune ordered to sync the carbs. I set them by ear and got them close enough to drive. She still needs some tweaking but runs pretty smooth. I think the original plug wires are breaking down some as she has a intermittent miss at times so I will replace them soon. WOW I forgot what a 100HP bike felt like! Nothing like grabbing a fist full of throttle and feeling the back tire light up . I also forgot what it's like to ride with no windshield. Eating a few bugs was worth it just to be riding a old Kawasaki again. I didn't want to ride too far until everything is in A-1 shape so only rode her for 22 miles today. It sure brought back some old memories. In the next few weeks I'll check & clean all electric connections,order a windshield and throttle lock for her ,install a set of Voyager adjustable handlebars and have her road worthy. LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL!!!!

HEY another Texan here, I'm not a native Texan,but I got here as fast as I could. In the Spring/Woodlands area no. of Houston, We should put together a ride. Best ride in TX is up through Montgomery& through natl. forest.
I also ride an 82 d1 Spectre. WHAT A GREAT OLD BIKE!!!
I ride it to work regularly.

I think BSKZ650 organized something last year but only had a few takers (and I wasn't one of them)...my problem is having a bike that is trustworthy...and I still don't have one of those:)

a get together of the TEXAS KZs would be neat this time of year, we could meet someplace for breakfast even if you dont have a ride up and running,
