'80 F1 tank? was created by Bluemeanie
Came across this on ebay, according to striping it "should" be a 79? I want it but I'm sure bidding will rocket above my budget so friggin fast! Hey, I could change my tail section to '79 striping!! ;)

That tank is the exact same color and stripe pattern as the tank on my '78 KZ650B.
So unless the PO of my bike swapped it before I bought it, that eBay seller has the wrong year listed.

Sweet starting bid on such a beautiful NOS tank, and hopefully the bidding doesn't go beyond what you're willing to pay for it. :)

Yea, that's a 78 B2 tank. I could use that myself. I have 3 650s that use that exact same tank, color and all.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

My guess would be that it brings between $150 and $200. I hope I'm wrong but I doubt it will go cheap, it's much too nice.

I'm sure your correct Gringo, I was pissed off when I lost last tank. It went for $71 and it was not new but just as nice!

I'd bid $200 right now, but don't want to foul up you getting the tank, if that matters. I bought a new tank just like it for $200 a couple years ago, and believe it or not, I bit the bullet and paid like $600 for a new blue tank way back in about 1995 before internet for me through Kawasaki to put on my then about 140,000 mile KZ650. I even thought then the whole bike is only worth $600 and I'm putting a $600 tank on? Well I love it and always have.

Ron, My budget doesn't allow much more than 80-100. Like Gringo says, will go for more than I can afford. GO FOR IT, DUDE!!! I know it will be way out of my reach, and I'd rather see someone here get it! :)

I've been watching this on my ebay. When I left for work this morning John was the high bidder I think at $32.00 and I thought to myself well maybe he'll get lucky. I just checked it again, it sold for $202.50. My original guess was darned close.
