Bought the ZRX1200A! was created by peachc
Well, I have found a very nice, clean 1997 ZX11 locally and I wanted to find out what you guys think of a price/good idea type of thing. Any advice or comments, would be great! Below is a picture!

Mileage?
Has it ever been dumped over or crashed?
Other "performance" mods besides the V&H pipe, and were they installed by a professional?
Any major engine/electrical/etc. repairs done, or need to be done?
Has it had all of the periodic maintenance (valve adj, carb synch, oil/filter changes, etc) done?
It sure is a pretty bike, but without more detailed info I'd be taking a stab in the dark in even guessing at what it's worth.
Have you checked on the ZX site yet to see if there's any info posted on what the ZX11's usually sell for?
Checking there and on eBay for an average price would be your best bet.

My dad has a '94. Pretty good bike. I rejetted the carbs and he kept the dual exhaust (said it looks more balanced).
The big thing to watch for is #3 rod being starved for oil.
He bought it used about 8-9 years ago and it always had a jump to it. It would be noticable at about 6,000rpm in first gear. It would also happen in 2nd occasionally. About 2 and half years ago, I pulled the engine (not easy by oneself btw) and went through the tranny. The engine had appeared to been taken apart by a PO as there was extra gasket sealer and someone didn't line up a locating pin on one of the tranny bearings. When they put everything back together they push the pin through part of the cases. Luckily the cases didn't have to be replaced and I reseated the pin.
Both 2nd and 5th gears had to be replaced since they engage in each other. I also replaced 1 or 2 of the shift forks.
Anyways...If you can pick it up for less than $4K-4.5K it would be worth it.
I've seen D models sell for close to $3000 before too.
later, Doug

I did that once myself, on a GT750 Suzuki 3-cyl 2-stroke. I didn't line up the crank main bearings with the locating pins and it drove those things right through the bottom of the crankcase, cracking it.
Once I realized this, after I had it all installed and running, I got to take it 100% apart again and have the pins pounded back into place and the bottom of the crankcase welded up.
Dumb but hey I've never forgotten to check!

I have not seen the bike first hand yet, but it does have the V&H and will need to look closer for any other manual things that may have happened. They are asking 3395 or the bike, so ballpark maybe? I am going to test ride it also, but I think as a whole, I haven't found anything that is known issues?

Well, I went to the bike store and test road and saw the bike. The pictures definately make it look much better than it does in person, ha. But, the trip wasn't in vain when I saw there sitting in the corner a 2005 ZR1200A, 2300 miles, clean as the day it came off the assembly line. So I decided to take it for a spin and fell in love immediately. So, now I am up in the air about price and wondering if 6k is a good price for this?

Go for it. You won't be disappointed with this bike from all I have read and heard about them.
The Z-Rex is probably the best looking bike that Kawasaki has put out since the ELR in my opinion. Something about the traditional look that spins my crank.
I am partial to the black and silver model and those bikes really fly.

Local bike dealer had a 2005 ZRX1200 with 1700 miles on it (looked just like the pic above) and wanted $4500 for it.
Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately, the boy is crazy), GPzInfested didn't get the loan to buy it.
