My Son's Motorcycle Project... was created by GPz750KS
My 10 year old son, Trent, started his new project. I allowed him to pick the bike and to do everything he thinks he can, to fix it up. I gave him a crash course in Sandblasting. (Wow, thats going to come in handy on my projects. No child labor laws will be broken, maybe)
Here it is: 1972 Suzuki TS185 Sierra. Good Title and street legal. He paid for with his allowance $50.00
Currently he has the frame blasted and powdercoated. The engine has been gone through and painted. His choice of color scheme for the bike:
And the painted pieces...
He wants to be done with it by this coming Saturday. There is a motorcycle show that has a youth class he wants to enter.
he is doing an awsome job and not letting me rest a bit....

Richard that pic of the stock bike really takes me back, that is a 1972 bike and I had the same year bike but only a 125. You son looks to be doing a heck of a good job on it and for $50 I'd say he got a pretty good buy as well.
As soon as my 13 yr old stepson arrives from Colombia I plan on putting him to work on his 81 CSR 305 that is currently residing in my basement. It currently runs but I plan on letting him finish it out himself. It not only will keep him busy but I hope it will instill a sense of pride in him having done it himself.

You know after a second look at this post I realized that I'm jealous. This kid has a bike lift and a bead blaster at his disposal, not to mention a dad who already has a really cool stable of vintage bikes as well as having found his own really cool project and at the tender age of ten. My only question at this point is, Richard do you have any interest in adopting me?

Besides all that nice father son bonding ... you now have a mini-mechanic at your disposal. So when he wants to borrow $10 ... he changes your oil, adjusts your chain, and checks your tires! AWESOME!
He is doing a sweet job man. He seems very patient for a kid and that is great!! Most kids would want the ready to ride bike. Your doing a great job as a dad and it is awesome the lessons your teaching him! Should be more dads like you out there bro.
