kawsakiman,
16 valve Suzukis (Katanas) came out a couple years later. Wes Cooley replicas had 8 valves. Ed
my friends is a 81 gs1100e 16 valve.
it will beat up on a stock kz and a 1075 with stock cams.
it has no engine mods, just a header pipe, jetting and pods.
they were quick as hell. that is why i have a 1261.
look i love my kz's but i am also smart enough to know when i'm out classed.
give me a month and then he'll see the power of a kawasaki.
then i'll tell him that his suzuki must be fast because he was hauling ass when i passed him on my kawasaki!
someday i will be able to afford my kz habit.

I have 2 Wes Cooley Replica's both are 1979 GS1000S. One Red and one Blue. There 535 built for import to the US in 79-80. I've ridden both the KZ and the GS 1000's. Very equal bikes. They just have different tendancies and power in different RPM's.

Thank you ! I knew there were a limited few built. And you are truly fortunate to own 2 of these machines. Great post !

why are the 'zuki's so cheap? im on ebay looking at them and theyre half the price of the kz's!
The market never developed to that extent that it did for the older Z's...the GS people are also prominent on the web and have a big support group, like KZ. If you want to collect big-bore bikes that are affordable, try Suzukis.

forgive me my kz brothers, its just the 1000's are so expensive i cant get my mits on one around here. but the suzukis on the other hand. i just want cheap 1000cc power. theres no doubt in my mind though that the old late seventies kz's are the best looking, ducktails and all. unless i can find a nice big kz during the winter i think ill turn my attention towards the cheap suzuki counterpart, the gs.
