ZeeEuro, from your pics it looks like you've done a great job but.....
as mentioned by other posters, most people NEVER get back out of a bike what they put into it, either in bux or sweat equity. You MAY get that buyer with a fat wallet who says "WOW !!! What a cool cafe bike !!"....but unless you're in a large metro market (LA, NY, Miami, etc), the odds are against you finding that exact buyer.
Quite frankly, I'd keep it and ride it wherever you're moving to, if at all possible. That way you'll expose it to more potential buyers by having it visible every day. The guy with the fat wallet MAY just walk up to you in a parking lot some day soon....

some love the oe bikes, some love the mods.
i am partial to the later.
right now or in a couple months it is a sellers market.
bike should be good for $1500-2000 all day.
but there are always guys like me who will look and see a bike for $1500 and offer $250
i wish you luck and request that if you do sell it to come back and tell us what you got for it.
me, i cannot part with my first bike.
don't ride her much anymore but i don't think i can ever part with her.
had her longer then my wife and kids
someday i will be able to afford my kz habit.

The vehicle market is a fickle thing. The custom vehicle market is even more so. A stocker will generally sell better, IMO, than a customized vehicle. Your bike looks great, good job! The fact remains that certain mods only appeal to certain people and the more mods the fewer people it appeals to.

As for counting one's labor. With these bikes it must be considered a labor of love as the labor cost will never add to the value of the bike. The reason so many of these bikes were parked years ago was that something relatively minor needed repair and the owner wasn't willing to pay shop rate to fix it. The value of these bikes was never high to begin with which is a perception that continues to this day.

By my way of thinking, I can afford to sink several hundred dollars making a bike into a good rider. I don't count my labor since I'm enjoying and learning at the same time. I guess that's why I consider this a hobby and not some way to make money.

Hi Alex,

I see a trend here in the comments. Hope it doesn't sound too disappointing.

One of the reasons I bought my 650 was because it was already heavily modified, so I wouldn't feel bad "un-stocking" it.

If you absolutely cannot take the bike with you, or you are getting tired of it, you may make out better by removing the cafe parts, making the bike as stock as possible, and selling all your cafe parts on ebay. That way you can sell a very clean, maintained bike (which should get you the best price) and recoup some of your money from the extra parts.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the constructive input. It really helped me decide what to do. So i think if i will not sell (craigslist) it this week for $2000-2500, then i will not sell it at all. Unstocking it is not an option cuz i sold the parts.

Thanks to all of you once again, and perhaps we will talk again.
