81' Suzuki GS 1100E

I just acquired an 81' GS 1100 E for the $400 owed on the work we've already done. It's got 16,880 miles on it and is missing the right side cover. It has pods and the stock exhaust but the exhaust is dying. It runs good but the head gasket leaks oil. The fuel petcock had failed and leaked into the crankcase. We'll get it sorted out, now we have two of these, an 80' and now an 81'.

Kelly, that GS1100 brings back a memory from 1981.  I was stopped at a traffic light on my Z1 and a new GS1100 stopped next to me.  We raced from the next 3 traffic lights and he beat me (but not by a lot) each time.  2 weeks later my motor was at the machine shop getting a bore kit, welded crank, cams, etc.    Looked for that same GS1100 a few times after that but never saw him again.

Scotty...He beat you???......How???....the thing only had a 16-valve head, 200 cc more, and about 8 years of development over the original Z1    !!!!

I know - hard to believe, isn't it  haha.  But when I got my built motor back in, my bike knew how to go faster than I did.  Never regretted spending that money !

BTW - That motor was machined and set up by an east coast Z1 drag racer name of Rick Stetson.

Since I only weigh 125lbs I haven't had the need to hotrod my motorcycle motors, just have to make sure I nail the launch and shifts.
Hard launches on the GS 1100E mean I'm sitting almost on the gas tank to keep the front end down.
