I built a stand with wheels for a 900 motor. Im considering a glass top and lamp until I get another rolling frame together for it.

I love the shape of these motors. They are decorative for sure.
I'm selling my J frame still (from the donor bike), but unfortunately has no papers.
Guy bought it from a police auction and then passed away. Got it from the estate...

Awright then, the dreaded day has come where I decided to do my frame.
I knew this was going to be a s**t-job from the beginning, but it had to be done...
Since this was not the type of work that can be done at an apartment (or flat for you brits), I had to ask a friend of mine, so that he could loan me his backyard for a day for the sandblasting.

But first I had to get there...
My Focus ST was not happy with me... I know this may be over-tasking my poor car, but I did not want to borrow the wife's Jeep. Last time I did, I brought it back with a couple of scratches, and I haven't heard the end of it yet....

At the lowest, this whole rig was about 4 inches from the ground, but it never dragged on the way to my buddy's (26 miles each way).

Took the opportunity to put my grinder to work. Needed to remove these unsightly tabs since I won't be installing a radio box any time in the future...
Now you see them....

Now you don't!

I spent the whole day chipping at it. There were lots of parts to remove, lost of rust, lost of old crud, and lots of elbow grease needed to clean up this frame.
Special mention goes to the steering stem races... I've seen some hard to get out, stubborn races in my time, but these particular ones had me swearing in tongues...

Oh... by the way, it was 93F (33.8 Celcius), with about 90% humidity, for a thermal sensation of over 103F in Miami on Saturday. In other words, HELL!

The below pic is half-way down the process... believe me... this was a bitch of a job...

By the end of a day, I had a primed frame, and a hell of a back ache... I'm out of shape...
There was some flaking, and a bit of pitting on the frame, but nothing to worry me, and definitely no through holes.

I was then able to take the drive back to finish the frame at home.. Installing bearing races in the comfort of my A/C...

Painted!

More soon to come!!!!!

I continue to be amazed that you're doing so much of this indoors. I basically trash my garage with each and every minor project I undertake. Meanwhile, you're replacing fork seals in your living room. Fantastic.

Barry, thanks!
It's not easy...
I think I take more time prepping and cleaning than actually working, but this is my therapy, and it keeps me sane.

Looks great! For sure prep work is 90% of the job and always the dirtiest part, but it must be done if the finished product is going to look good. Ed

I have been working at a quicker pace than usual, trying to recover lost time, and take advantage of a week off of school.
So... taking advantage of my alone day on the 4th of July (poor wife had to work), I decided to setup my "home-shop" for a productive day at work.

Time to change the swing-arm bearings. Very hard to get out due to their thin profile... decided to get the dremel out

Out!

As a side note, has anyone seen GLOW on Netflix? Reminds me of when I was a kid and watching the real thing... such a cool show...

What's this? Why is the motor on its side? Must be tired...!

Nooooo... it's the old "putthemotoronitssidesowecaninstalliton[/img]theframe" trick!

I ended up nicking a couple of covers, and messing up some of my polish work in the process... the price of working by yourself.. .. :sigh:
I realized I had to remove the valve cover to get it to clear, but if finally did...!

The frame and motor are finally together after 2 years of separation... I feel satisfied!

I have plenty of painting to do for smaller pieces, touchup, etc.
I also have the wiring to go over, and have to decide on cosmetics, but.... I feel I'm getting closer...
Shooting for Winter to be completed w/ the project. No reason why I would not be able to achieve this...

With this, I say adieu until the next one!
Ed

Should have would have could have, its always the part that keeps the imagination striving. Just remember thats the part thats free. When Im sitting in the shop staring at the GreenGo, sweetie always says "Honey, what are you thinking of now?" as in uh oh. HaHa!
