Irma has come an gone and as we now see the devastation in Puerto Rico I cannot help but being thankful. We endured a couple of days of hard wind and rain, but other than having no electricity for 4 days, the losses were minimal.
Having said that... it's on to regular life and my beloved KZ projects.

More updates to come my friends!

Awright then... SCHOOL IS OVER!
I am looking forward to Christmas break, and more importantly to continue work on my KZ.
I managed to disassemble the carbs on Sunday in preparation for a new jet kit...
Can't wait for the weekend!!!!!!

Spent the weekend chasing electrical gremlins. Both my neutral and oil pressure lights were not working due to problems with senders.
Wired my ignition, cut ignition wires, and did some tidying up. This is what it looks so far:

Found that 1/2 of my Dyna unit is working, with the 1-4 coil getting juice and the 2-4 coil being dead...

More to come... found a good deal on offerup for a new Dyna unit.... supposed to pick it up today... :)

Picked up a brand new Dynatek module in the box for $50 last night... yeah!!!!
Gotta love offerup. Apparently, the guy had it listed locally for a long time, and had not been able to sell it...
Godsend!

Excellent job, definitely love the idea of laying the engine and frame on the side to install. I used to do projects in the house. my wife went and got a glass top coffee table. Now I can't use it for a work bench. Great job.

From the moment I Started this project I set out to do as many of the tasks "in house" :) as much as possible.
I forewent this philosophy with the upolsthery, giving my reshaped seat to a local shop.
I followed Kiwi KZP's idea and trimmed both sides as well as a bit of the top of the foam, to still have a supportive saddle, but not one that looks like a barca lounger.
I ended up with this result. Trust me, the pictures do not do it justice. It's nice....

It is then time to move on to the body.
Started with the rear fender.
Chemical peel

Primer

Base and clear coat:

Not bad for a rattle can job!!!

This was followed by the front fender, which was covered on a really tough coat. As a result, it ended up with a few scratches that I did not get rid of on my haste to finish it. Looks fine from 5ft away, but I will probably scrap or re-paint it down the road. I am sort of partial to chrome fenders... we'll see what the future brings.

This is the state of my living room.

Wife is out of town, so the KZ has taken over!!!!!!!!!!!

Moved on to the tank.
Chemical peel

This tank was covered with two coats of super heavy duty paint. It took several coats of paint remover, lots of scraping, and a lot of swearing to take it down to the metal.

Life of a single parent is not easy. I have been chipping away at the tank for the last few nights in order to fill a the dent, and get rid of as many low spots as possible...
It's a work in progress, but I'm getting Close!!!

Enjoying the build Ed. Hard to believe you are doing this in an apartment. Is the plan to take it all apart to get it out there?
