I figured I would share one of the many amazing scooters that are out in the wild here in Japan. Believe it or not this one is pretty demure.

So a couple of updates for posting. I will admit I have been a bit busy to post updates so this will be split up a bit to accommodate. Wheel is now mounted. It took my lead engineer a bit of time with the lathe to make the Yamaha axle work with the RF900 rear but it is attached securely for now....... we shall see at 100+ how I feel about my desire to use the R1 wheels for aesthetics. Front and rear brakes mounted as well.

Lead Engineer (my oldman) finally got the rear-sets I tracked down and mounted them. After some artistic direction he re-mounted them in a more aggressive position for me.

Luckily my oldman and I make a good team and regularly check concepts off each other. This ensures that the engineering and the design are working in concert with each other, otherwise the bike would be a cruiser with shit welded all over the place. After careful debate the pegs were adjusted more to my liking and a horrible chrome front fender was mounted. This will not be a permanent fixture.

So after a brief hiatus from the build, the bike is back on the engineering floor for work. The initial rear frame rails were determined to be too low and needed to be raised to correct the line of the body. This group of pictures shows the original frame rail setup and the initial seat pan construction.

Appreciate the pics and the plans. This build is the rough out right now. All of this will be torn back apart and rebuilt to pretty up everything.

I recently returned from a vacation to Yoron island, the southern most island in the Amami Island chain. It is a very small rural island with only one major road....and two traffic lights and one of those is a blinking red light. While there my wife and I rented a scooter that we named Beelzebub. This little 100cc scooter was a blast but a far cry from the large displacement bikes I am used to riding. It did make me appreciate the fun that can be had on very narrow roads with livestock around every corner.
