Below is a link to a very long thread that should be of great interest to you if you are serious about installing newer carbs on your KZ650. It describes in great detail with terrific photos how an owner swapped out the Mikunis for Keihins, and he did this with great success on an absolutely beautiful KZ650. I recommend you take the time to read the whole thing even though it is very long as it should provide inspiration and information that will help you. Ed

if it were not for the fact that prior owner/owners decided to or looks like they took an hammer and chisel to the casings I would work on them. but broke is broke. some one that had no business working on them did a real number on them.

Actually I've never had a set of carbs that I couldn't get broken parts out of.... Maybe you just need to get workin' on those.

+1, VM26 are super easy to tune and find parts for and flow really well

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationWhen you consider the cost of the turbo components, engine changes, etc. it might be more cost effect to buy a Kawasaki GpZ 750 turbo. In addition to cost considerations, the factory product most likely would handle better, brake better, etc. Here's a guy looking for an offer on a really nice GpZ 750 Turbo. Ed

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationIt's a funny thing. You know when someone gets an idea in their heads that's it. I spent well over the price I paid for my car new on building the engine. It's not about cost effectiveness at all at some point. It's an idea that comes to fruition. My little four cylinder is faster than many of the big cars and certainly catches most by surprise. I could have just taken the money and bought a fast car but where would the fun in that be? Plus the sound of my blow off valve that sounds like a rattle snake is different than any of the cars out there cause if they could just bolt on supercharger parts to this model everyone would have done it already.

***did I say many? I meant MOST cars on the road. It's as quick as a motorcycle in the quarter.

Another option would be to use the GPZ turbo components on your bike. Find a turbo that's wrecked or seen better days and throw all the go fast bits on for a good time!
