Minus paint you could easily have a decent rider for $1500 or so. Parting out bikes cuz it is easy or what you want to do ain't worth it in the long run IMHO. Hell, after my Z1 just got ripped off my ole lady needs a bike and something like that would be exactly what I would look for.
My .02 cents

if you want to do that i would suggest a xs650 yamaha.
what you have there sir is a muscle bike and should be treated as such.
here is what i would suggest you do to your bike.
taking one of these kz900/1000 and making a chopbobcafe would be like taking a ss396 camaro and making a lowrider out of it.
can you ?
sure.
should you?
no.
is everyone else that knows anything about these bikes gonna appreciate the way you molested your bike.
doubtful.are you going to make them mad because you chopbobbedcafed prolly.
that my .02 fwiw.

i have a 76 kz900 thats going to get that type of treatment as well  .that streetracer look is never going to go out of style.
on your 81 it really needs the subframe reworked to be able to use the seat, tail, side covers from an 80 and you could pull this look of with your 81 with a j-motor !
that would be sweet :woohoo: .
