Z1 period chopper
08 Dec 2013 16:37
I made a couple mentions of this in my searches for parts and info, and had a couple requests for pics, so here it is.
The run-down is this;
By the numbers she's a '76-'77 KZ900 engine in a Smith Bros & Fetro frame, fully chromed, with what I think is an Amen springer +20 length. Current rolling stock is 16 rear with Z1 drum, 18 spool front. Corbin Gentry Raider seat, cut and recovered at some point in the past, Gary Littlejohn "K" model prism tank, 6-bend bars on 8" risers. Also have a Mastercraft "69" taillight and dual rectangle headlights.
The engine is getting a Henry Abe 1000 kit, Norris cams, ARD magneto, and Solex-Mikuni 2bbl carbs. All the covers are chrome, including the oil pan and the oil cooler.
Just a kid trying to keep the old stuff alive and on the road.

Very Nice! ![B) B)](/media/kunena/emoticons/1.png)
Definitely Different..
...HOWEVER as someone who "Lived in the 60's/70's" this brings back a lot of memories. :woohoo:
From what my old eyes see......thats definitely a "Hard tail" frame right? :huh:
I would probably still ride one of those if it was a soft tail.frame...my old bones wouldnt appreciate a hard tail frame.
...LOL
Seriously....please keep posting pictures as you progress!! Cant wait to see the finished bike!![:) :)](/media/kunena/emoticons/8.png)

Doing a mild gasket match/port job on the head right now, and trying to get the cases ready for paint.
Also just scored a set of Invader mags on the 'bay so those will get the tires swapped and go on as soon as they get here.
