Look what I just bought

79 kz650
Besides the crappy sissy bar, seat and fairing the bike is bone stock with 35,000 on the clock.

Inside of the gas tank is beautiful

And it fired right up :woohoo:

The mufflers are shot but it comes with a set of new Emco after markets.
Lots of gaskets and hoses to replace .

This is going to go to my son when it's done.

I have an hennigan fairing from my gpz1100 in brand new shape. They are pricey new.

I almost bought an H2 off a friend that had one of those Vetters on it, until the day he had a Caddie back out of a parking space while he was in a full wheelie, bad scene, I was there :S

He lived , the bike got messed up , so I bought a brand new Kz650 custom instead.
Loved that bike !

Had to sell it for legal reasons :blush:

So I'm looking forward to cleaning this one up, hopefully my son will get into it too.
I'm sure he will.

The fairing is the first thing to go, and from what I could see, the ears and bucket are still in there and just the turn signals and head lamp and probably wires were relocated.

Oh yeah , he caught wind of it today and is real pumped to get started

Looks like he will be staying with us this summer before going back to collage for his masters
so we will have plenty of time to do it right, I hope.

Nothing like a father son project. I like the blue 650's myself even though mine is not blue. She should clean up nice and be a hoot to ride. Have fun with the project.

Most fairings have a plug that adapts the factory harness to the fairing, keeps the wires from getting hacked to death I hope that is the case with yours. If so like you mentioned a few parts and she is good to go

Is that the bike from Purple Rain that Prince rode????
