Kawasaki produced these for the US market in 81-82 but the Canadian market were lucky to get them for a third year.
There is a little to bit to fix however. The previous owner broke a drive chain and took out the back part of the rear plastic fender
At the same time the seatlock assembly got chewed( i got a replacement so no prob there)
The exhaust is beat and im thinking a Kerker would finish it off.
So if anyone out there have a decent chrome(maybe black)Kerker 4 into 1, or a rear fender give me a shout

Keeping it original except for the Kerker Header. It's been painted but I was prepping the side covers and tail cowl and found evidence of the black and parts of the multi colour stripe scheme.Personally this is my favourite and the way I will be painting it. Thanks for the encouraging words. Will update when it looks better
cheers. Paul

Nice bike, prone to cylinder ovalling and premature ring failure (which can be cured with a GPz1100 cylinder block and pistons).

Hope all is well. As far as the bike on the service manual is concerned ('83 J3 Canadian), I have confirmed after a conversation I had with a chap that sold me my J3 some years ago who was a Kawi dealer in central Canada in the early eighties, that only 2-3 hundred J3 Canadians were imported in '83. Paul and I have been trading some emails on this. You and I had some conversations on this over a year ago. We met on the kz1000r website.

I do recall...have shied away from KZ1000R.com as of late...ate up all my free time. Lately, have been concentrating my efforts on getting my KZ1000A1 shipshape in preparation to sell (which will then fund the remainder of my Z2A project).
