I figured I'd just end up going with Z1 on this stuff, but I'll need about 250 bucks worth of stuff from them for both sets of booties, 4 carb kits, the orifice tool, and some other bs. Just tough to swallow right now.

On my 79 GS1000 that I rebuilt the carbs on, I got away with just o-rings and bowl gaskets, but if all goes well, I plan on keeping this thing for a while so it doesn't pay to cheap out.

The GS was a GREAT bike. Should never have sold it, but honestly - a guy stopped me outside of a restaurant and gave me a cash offer I couldn't say no to. He saw it, was pretty well-to-do, and had to have it.

I miss it like crazy, and swore to myself I'd never own an old-school bike that didn't say 'GS' on the side covers, but I just couldnt find one at the right price/location that I had in mind. The 750 was a bit weak in the power department for a 200+lb dude and I wanted an 1100, so, well... here we are.

That 1100 will have a lot of grunt stock. I had one of those, bought from the original owner, and had some Vetter stuff. It was a Fun bike.
I liked that big torque, so I am bumping my 1000 to 1166 over the winter. That should pick it up a bit.

Yeah, the GS750 was a fun bike once you got it up to speed, and with the Progressive springs in the forks, it really handled well for an old dinosaur on bias ply tires.

That said, I bought the 78 GS1000 with some of the money from the 750 sale, and once I felt the torque of that beast I was hooked. I'll NEVER own anything under 1000cc again.

My ZRX1200R was unbelievable in the torque department as well. Big, bad-ass freight train.

Maybe once this puppy gets all churched up we'll spring for that big bore kit.... and then try to find a way to get more tire under it, hahaha!

Not much progress in the last couple days, but I did back it out of the garage and take some pics after some general cleaning.

Still trying to track down a headlight, headlight bracket, OEM turn signals, and going to look for a 4-1 header for it.

Probably start heavily playing with it this week, stay tuned.
