Another KZ650 project

I just finished this for a customer. He brought me a 1977 KZ650B1 and wanted me to bob it. After a talk with him and having him try out a friends bobber he changed his mind and decide to go with the Cafe look. He wanted it all black and what I ended up with was a WHOLE lot of black. He refused to budge on the black.

What I started with

What I ended up with.

I tried to talk the guy into letting me paint the emblems gold but no he wanted black. The shocks are one's I found on Ebay. They cost about $90.00 and ride pretty good, lot better than the stock ones.

To paint the engine I sealed all openings then let it sit in the hot sun for about 3 hours to get it good and hot. I then sprayed it down with POR 15 Marine Clean, kept it wet with the marine clean for about 30 minutes. I steam cleaned it then soda blasted it. I again used marine clean and sprayed the soda off. Let dry in the sun and used black PJ1 satin case paint.

...nice, that did one hell of a job.

...appreciate the info. I'm going to try it when I get to my engine.
