Frame number range k4-044601-k4-506001

I do not mean to start a disagreement as I do not know much about the 400/440 models. I was going by what I could find on the kz400 site. If you look at this www.kz400.com/Model%20identification%20b.../1976%20KZ400-D3.jpg the frame and engine numbers listed for the D3 are the starting #s not the entire range. Those that begin with a 5 (they have the "L" in a circle note) were built in the US the others were built in Japan.

If you then look at the same info for the D4 here www.kz400.com/Model%20identification%20b.../1977%20KZ400-D4.jpg you will notice the frame and engine #s (again starting numbers) come after the bike in question.

So this led me to think the bike was a D3

awesome :) , i wasnt sure how vin identification worked exactly. i was checking out that website and it definitely looks like the D3. thanks 4 the help
