I clicked a few more pics! I also removed the rear fender and put in a plate that completely covers the underside of the seat.

Carb question real quick, my carbs had 127.5 main jets in them and I replaced them with 132.5 after I did the pipe/cone filters. I did not replace the pilot jets. Stock is claimed as 38. Should I do 40s or 42s? What would you guys say? I live at sea level. It runs pretty good, but has a LOT of popping on decel and if I am just cruising at like, 30mph.

If not already done, would first try enrichening the pilot circuits by turning all pilot mixture screws out counter-clockwise by 1/2 turn, and by 1 full turn or more if popping persists.

Another consideration is that the pilot circuits may be obstructed.
Or running lean due to missing parts such as plugs or o'rings at base of pilot jets.
Or too low fuel level in float bowls (as determined via clear-tube test).

Good Fortune! :)

Looking good keep going. I made a similar box for the under seat wiring as well. Cleans everything up and easy to work on. One question about the battery mount though. Although it's really cool looking, will the movement of the swing arm affect the battery in a negative way, i.e. shock?

Yea, I thought about that, but there are plenty of dudes that ride around on rigid frames. I dont really see a difference. And hey, if my battery fails I can move it back. I really dont think that it will have any problems.

The swingarm is still active. The battery is not mounted rigid so should be easier on it than a hardtail.

badass build.

you've given me some idea's for my KZ750 ltd (that pic of that xs with dualsports on a few pages back sealed the deal). Any chance your freind could make another seat pan?? local guys are pulling the fillings out of peoples teeth here in atlanta.

may ask him to fab up rear brake caliper tabs. using alot of gas when you have to down shift all the time B)

bad ass build though, feelin it.

Ha, He is the one that made me the spacer that replaced my caliper mount. I rarely run rear brakes on any bike, and the master was seized on this bike, so even more reason.

As for the seat pan, he might be up for it. I will get back to you about that. What do you think a reasonable price would be for a basic seat pan like mine?

Id say $60-80 bucks (if it took him an hour), plus I gotta pay shipping so hopefully not too bad B)

had to come back and edit this... may have to bite the bullet and get it done around these parts or do it myself. CNC just makes it look soooo much better.

I have a 750 LTD frame, little different I believe from yours (definitly gonna chop some off, but still).

thanks for asking though, still curious

Got the seat on! Sadly, the foam was WAY too soft, so I gutted my KZ650 stock seat and filled it with that for now, but other than that, its great. (the shape is a little off cause the hack job I made on the KZ650 foam doesnt fill this cover properly)

I'm very happy with the color tho, I hope O can find grips that will match. I will post more pics when I get a really well fitting foam pad in there. Next step is to take the whole thing down to nothing and paint it. We shall see how lazy I am and how long until that happens.

Here is a picture of the seat pan finished with the mesh riveted in. I really like how it came out. The pic kinda sucks, but my phone is getting worse and worse as the days go by. Also, the seat fit isnt great, but I am still working on the right foam.

Thanks man,

I totally agree about the front end, but I cant slide them up at all, th bars are right above them. I am going to take them apart soon to put new seals in them and I am going to cut the springs down a little when I do that. I think it will look much better.

I bought some doo hickies that slipped over the dampners or something anf dropped an inch. Drag bikes use them. Maybe someone who knows what they are will chime in.

The solution I had for my Police cafe was to push up the tubes an inch then mount clip ons to the exposed tube. I did have some drag bars on and to get them over the tubes I inverted a pair of bar clamps from another bike, they acted like a cheap set of risers.
