Last of the KZ900's

Better late than never last bike is as important as first at least they got it right when they built yours.:laugh: I gave my parents a good line of sh*(_^%$t and they went for it didnt even finshed dinner as i was running out the door i heared my dad say why did i say yes . went to engewood kaw 31 years latter still have my bike. My dad got into bikes after that had many good miles with him.

I thought about going with the green, but the brown just looked so perfectly 70's, and is the rarer of the two colors.

For sure on the stock paint back in the day. We couldn't wait to get something other than the factory paint job!

In bygone days, a mural painted on top of a new bike's fuel tank was mandatory.

Art works of Frank Frazetta were very popular. As were many other famed artists.

But for such exposure to the finer arts, many bikers might have missed out on becoming so well culturefied.

You have an LTD bike. Why are you painting it the standard brown color of the regular KZ900? Those were dime-a-dozen the LTD is much more rare. The decals for the LTD are available. For the brown 900 they are much harder to find because no one wants to restore them.

Hi Otakar. I'm pretty sure it's not an LTD. The LTD parts themselves were mismatched. The bike had the A5 drum rear wheel, single disc front setup, black gauge covers etc. The KZ900 LTD VIN sequence is KZ900B-*****




As for the LTD styling, I prefer spoke wheels and fatter tanks, and the LTD doesn't deliver either. As for desirability, you may remember that no one gave a rat's ass about ANY of these old 900's for years. That has changed.

Nice ride! Can't wait to see the finished bike. BTW, as far as 900s go, yours is by far the best for riding. Fully developed for the model line.

I stand corrected. Those cosmetics are actually off of a 1977 KZ1000LTD. In which case he will also require a new full size fuel tank.

oh god,i survived the 70s/80s once with murals and 5lb metal flake paintjobs once,now you had to remind me! :sick: :woohoo:
