i started with a 1977 KZ1000A1. it was a nightmare from the word go, carb issues, parts from 4 or 5 different bikes and to top it off an electrical fire that started the rebuild. i put a complete harness on the bike including all new switches. then it snowballed... i had a 1976 KZ900 motor built by Redline Cycle. i know that some of you are askin why a 900, well the answer is to be sneaky. it's bored out to a 1230 with 10:1 with custom made arias pistons, stage 2 ported head, andrews 435in and 410ex cams, backcut tranny, welded crank, full dyna ign, 36rs carbs and the list goes on.

then i decided to cut on the frame a bit with the help of my big brother. we cut off front reflector mounts, rear turn signal mounts, center stand mounts, helmet hook and a few other little things i didn't need. had Terry McIntosh build me a custom 10 over swingarm with a built in air tank. bought new spokes and a wider rear rim. sent all parts out to chrome and powder!

well you should have no problem convincing everybody its just a stock 900 by the 903 stamped on the cylinder, when they ask about the flatslides just tell em you had em sitting on a shelf and couldnt afford 29s! :woohoo:
when they ask about the rough idle tell em you blew your money on chrome and couldnt afford new plugs!
i try and pass my 1327 off as a z1 also, but the smart guys see the bigblock

this is going to be a killer lookin/runnin bike i think  .

extended swingarms and struts with sticky tires are a giveaway in my neck of the woods.

unsuspecting sportibike jockeys might be a different story.
but depending on how big of a population you live around stories about bikes like this have a way of getting around :cheer: .

either way you are going to have a blast.

keep us posted on the progress,

I'd say you blew the stealth mode with the 10" over swingarm. Might pass the other stuff off unless someone IDed your carbs.

Similarly, I have no stickers anywhere on my zx-10r and everyone thinks it's a 600 because it is such a small/narrow bike for a 1000. Until I twist the throttle and give 'em the rear view.

That is one clean motor! Looks like a good project you have going.
