Lana (My First Build 1982 KZ750 CSR) was created by ETC2K10
So, her name's Lana. She started out as some guy's 1982 KZ750. Since I got her, dropped the front end, swapped out the stock bars for clip-ons, cut off the ass end and done a few more random things.

Next steps:
-Finish glassing up my new seat pan (Snake skin seat....you've been warned!)
-Wrap the exhaust
-Paint what needs to be touched up
-Lighting
-Tail section (I think I'm going to do the Magna rear plastic. I've seen it done before on my bike and it looks awesome!)
-Suggestions?

www.resize.it/resize-portrait-photo.html

go into advanced tools
then browse to find the pic
then set max height to 817
then set max width to 1089
leave everything else alone and hit okay.
once the pic comes up right click and save as.
then you can just use the browse [ img ] box at the bottom of the kzrider message and then place your cursor wherever you want the pic and click [ img ] and that is where the pic will be.

Rear brake. If the age of the rear brake shoes is unknown, replace them.
The adhesive that binds the linings to the shoes can fail over time. A lining can separate from a shoe & get jammed between the shoe & drum, locking the rear wheel.

It happened to me when rolling the bike off the center stand. very lucky. It would be a real drag for it to happen at speed. I was also lucky that it happened in the driveway. I just put a piece of cardboard under the rear wheel & slid the bike back into the garage. It would be a bummer to be far from home w a locked rear wheel.

Z1Enterprises.com has replacement shoes. You can order other stuff as well, such as a air filter or two and a few oil filters, etc. It's a dirty job but doable: Do not breathe the dust as it contains ASBESTOS. Don't contaminate the bearings. I made hub protectors from plastic bottles & taped them w Gorilla tape (painter's masking tape would be useless).

Have plenty of clean rags & use denatured alcohol to wipe down the parts as you work. You can spray the parts w brake cleaner prior to assembly.

Use a proper brake lubricant on the pivot points. Do not get it on the friction surfaces.
I use Permatex Ultra Disc Brake Caliper lube in the little packets - it doesn't take much.

Very evenly & carefully sand the glaze from the friction surface of the drum. I used 100 grit sandpaper. Do not breathe the dust. Wipe everything down w denatured alcohol afterwards & place the used rags in a plastic bag & discard. Also sand the leading edges of the shoes. Sanding should eliminate any potential brake squeal, something that others have oft reported.

I dig the new wheel idea. She's needing some new shoes.

So,, the first seat glassing went well, the design, SUCKED! So the second glassing went much better! Tabs for the plastics got cut down and now all of the electronics under the seat are being tucked under the seat pan.

So, I finally got eyeballs for Lana. These are the ones I chose to go with. Round 3.5" fog lights. They're going to be in line with the shoulder of the tank.
