Thanks, I also plan to mount the tail light under the tail. I think I will try to find some low profile turn signals as well. I thought about using a integrated brake/turn signal type light, but then there would be unused mount holes that light look kinda off.

I am not ready to start modifying the frame. Maybe someday, it definitely needs to be painted.

While waiting on my carb parts to soak I worked on refinishing my headers after some pointers of others in the forum. You can see a before pic and a discussion on what to do with them in the link below

Here's a pic of the results, sorry lighting and my camera are not very good.

I used a phosphoric acid solution sold at Home Depot to neutralize the rust after scraping as much as I could off.

I then painted with VHT flat black paint. I think the results are pretty good considering their previous condition. I just hope the paint holds up. If not oh well. I only have about $30 invested in the refinishing. The cheapest new replacements I could find are almost $300.

Coming along well.
I'm also a fan of no rear fender.
It was the first thing I took off way back when when I bought my KZ.

Nice job man. That VHT is tough stuff, after using it once I am done polishing chrome headers. Is this going to be a stock rebuild or are you going to spice her up a bit?

I haven't done it personally, but a lot of people swear by the soda blasting on the carbs. While you have them apart, this might be a good time to check out the budget soda blaster post.

Thanks, My goal is to get her road worthy. I plan on going mostly stock except for some lower profile turn signals and mirrors.

Way back I bought a GPZ swingarm and monoshock to do a rear end conversion, but I am not ready to tackle that yet. Someday though!
