I finished machining some threaded bosses for the electrical panel and R/R unit, and welding them to the battery box. It was an exercise in heat control and torch angle due to the thin sheet and the thicker solid round.

Above is the right side R/R mount. Below is the left side electrical panel mount. It needs a little more finishing.

I think tectonic plates move faster than my 900 project. I'm sure you'll have your bike done long before my project is.

You're killing me Leon!   Yeah Tyler, I think I started this thread a week after I started tearing the bike down. Even baby steps get you closer to the finish Doug, and baby steps are still much faster than tectonic action! I promised I'd take my 8 year old to the Rock Store, but later I NEED to cut out a bunch of tabs to mount an undertail subframe shield. Then of course make the shield panel

I know its been painful to watch (Leon), but I did get a little something made last night. One of the things I needed to do before paint was some little tabs for an undertail shield panel. The only thing is, I don't have the panel made yet. So, thats what I did last night :) I started by using spray adhesive to glue card stock (file folders work awesome, are cheap and plentiful) to the bottom of the subframe, so that I have something flat that follows the contour of the tubes. Then I covered the folders with packaging tape.

Then I laid the the first layer of carbon cloth over the "mould"

I mixed up some resin, coated the first layer of cloth,, then added 3 more layers for a total of 4. It doesn't need to be super strong, just keep the crud out from under the seat and tail. After the last layer it looked like this:

And there you have it, thats how you make a quick and dirty carbon fiber subframe panel. B)

It wouldn't be very difficult, but I'm guessing you have a stock frame boostable?
