I have been focused on the mechanical aspect for so long, I had never really looked beyond making the beast mechanicaly sound. I still need to pull the fuel tank, fill it with water and weld some bungs for a.n. fittings. Stupid oddball metric tank fittings!

One quick update tonight. I started cleaning covers and I got three pieces painted. Lots of stuff soaking in the parts washer tonight.
So are you saying to use the DP90 as a topcoat?

the covers look good man.
the blue with white rallye stripe will look good.are the wheel centers graphite colored or blue (it was hard for me to tell, sorry).
between me and my buddies we have done 1-kz1000 safety orange with off white rallye stripes 1-kz650 lime green with white stripes a kz900 burgundy with silver rallye stripes and i have a set of colors for one of my 900's that is lightblue metallic with darker blue metallic rallye stripes(all dual stripes with single pinstripes on both sides of each wide stripe).
so yeah you would know that i like your paint scheme  .

Thanks Leon. The wheel centers are a graphite metallic color. Thats just a rattle can job for test purposes, but I like it so it will get shot with real paint when I get the redneck paint booth up and runnin'. I really like the blue with white rally stripes. Reminds me of my favorite car of all times, 427 Shelby Cobra!! Ugh Ugh Ugh Ugh!

dp 90 is not a glossy black.it would look good on parts you want semi or more of a flat sheen.otherwise it is a very good epoxy primer.tuff stuff

DP90 is a primer/sealer intended for use on bare metal. You can use a primer/etcher underneath it if you want, but I never did with that material. I wouldn't use it on engine parts without testing. I personaly have never used it on anything that would get as hot as an engine and I don't know its durability at high temps. Unless you're just confusing me with engine part pics and talking about paint as a separate question.

Yeah, sorry Adam, I'm trying to confuse you. I should have handled this in seperate posts. The engine pics are high temp paint. My question on the DP90 was related to your previous post. I was confused because that you said it was a black primer/sealer. I just wanted to clairify that you meant for that to be my topcoat on the black semi-gloss stuff like frame, engine brackets, headlight ears, etc.

Don't you have to bake that stuff in the oven? I think that my wife would have me living in the garage if I did that.

The DP90 will work awesome for those parts. You only need to strip off all the old paint (and rust?) with either chemicals or 80 grit sand paper. Wipe the parts down with clean paper towels (rags can contain risidual chemicals that can cause fish eyes) soaked in clean thinner. Let any small amount of residul thinner evaporate, then a tack rag, followed by 3 medium coats of DP90. It will leave you with a smooth, non porous semi gloss finish.
