Well I just got off the phone with Z1E, and now my wallet is about $700 lighter. Hopefully, this will be my last major part order. I decided to go ahead and order the Dyna 2000 ignition amongst other goodies.

That's fantastic Josh, are you gonna get the dyna 2000 chromed? It'll only make your bike faster if you chrome it, you know that right? And what other goodies did you procure? I think I see some flat slides in your future, as well as a big bore kit, came, head porting...... just a few more grand- give or take

Gotta love new parts, but when the box finally shows up on your step it seems about three sizes smaller than the bill! Especially when that bill is more than what you paid for the bike!

Once you get the bike back together and it's running sweet with all those new parts, you forget all about what they cost.

It's just right now, when the weather is nice and your bike is in three different zip codes, that the dollars tend to get to you.

Jake you absolutely nailed it. I just got a round of shipments last week, and the only one that didn't seem "light" was the exhaust that I got from Tony. Actually, the money doesn't bother me once I have the parts in my hands. I just have a hard time making myself spend it.

Adam,
Here's today's Z1E list:
4 x carb kits
4 x pod filters
1 x motion pro carb sync tool
1 x Dyna 2000 (no chrome, its anodized)(I'm chrome negative)
1 x set of 8mm plug wires
4 x B8ES spark plugs
1 x headlight rim assy.
2 x KZ 1000 Emblem
1 x Banjo bolt brake light switch

Last weeks list:
Z1E
1 x Engine gasket set
1 x Engine seal set
1 x stainless engine bolt set
1 x stainless carb holder allen bolt set
1 x woodruff key
1 x cam end plug set
8 x clutch fibre discs
1 x clutch spring set
1 x tsubaki cam chain
16 x cam bearings
1 x tach drive gear

Bike Bandit
1 x Renthal 530 SRS-ring chain
1 x JT 40t 530 Sproket
1 x Suzuki MC Connector
1 x Suzuki Connector o-ring

American Classix
1 x 18t 1/2" offset 530 sprocket

Flatslides would be nice, but not soon. Currently, I'm gonna live with my good ole VM 26 ss set. Did I mention that I scored a set of BS 34's for $10 when I bought that GSXR? They will require some mods to work with the Kawi, but for $10, if they work cool, if not clean em up $100 to a Suzuki fan. I want to get the bike running fairly stock, and calibrate the butt-dyno for a year. Then, a 1075 kit, cams, port and polish, Payload Assist Module. That ought to do the trick!

Seems like an opportune time to get a tally on my cash outlay on this build so far. I'll try to organize by source. This one's for you new Old_kz1000 if your still watching.

Motorcycles purchased:
1 1978 KZ1000 A2 disguised as an LTD $400 (Craigslist)
1 1995 GSXR 750 with bonus BS 34 carbs $260 (Craigslist)
- !Update! GSXR 750 parts sold $350 (Craigslist)

Parts purchased:
1 LED taillight $64 (Ebay)
1 KZ 1000 A2 Seat $75 (Ebay)
1 KZ 750? Fuel Tank $50 (Ebay)
1 Aluminium luggage rack $20 (Land's Cycles)
1 Handlebars GS1100? $20 (Land's Cycles)
1 KZ 900 Crankshaft $210 (mark1122)
1 4 into 1 exhaust $30 (Tony)
1 GSXR 750 front end $195 (rodriguez thru Ebay)
1 offset sprocket $91 (Amercan Classix)
Chain, sprocket, suzuki parts $195 (Bike Bandit)
GSXR Fork seals, fork oil $48 (Dennis Kirk)
1 Clutch hub rebuild kit $75 (APE)
1 EVERYTHING $1165 (Z1 Enterprises)

Grand total so far $2578

It should be noted that I could not remember the shipping price for the fuel tank and the seat. Every other price includes shipping. I have not included the parts which I have purchased, but now plan not to use. I also have not included the price of any tools or supplies purchaced along the way. Your results will vary here.

Would that Payload Assist Module by any chance be fuled by oxides of nitrogen? :woohoo: I was just day dreaming today how much fun it would be to build a turbo 810 out of a KZ650, with the usual front and rear suspension mods......

 its amazing when you peel back 32 years of grime and oxidation down to fresh aluminum. It sure makes handling the parts and putting the engine together more gratifying ;)

NOS is played out. I'm thinking straight solid rocket propulsion. RATO baby! Fly me to the moon, Let me play among the stars...

BTW I can't wait for the day when I can touch the bike and not get black hands immediately.

I personally prefer to have power thats there all the time, filling a tank would get old for me. I'd probably never use it anyway
I'm sure the airforce has some spare JATO units they wouldn't miss......
Hell, my hands get dirty putting on the gloves I wear before I even work on the bike

Me neither, I'm gonna be doing my final batch of sandblasting this weekend, then she'll be clean and nice all over when I re-assemble.

I forgot to add one item to my price list last night.
1pr Michelin Power Pilot 2ct tires $223 (Cycle Sector)

New grand total $2801. The lesson to be learned here is not to go this route if you plan on making money off the sale of the bike. Plenty of solid runners available every day for this kind of money. But, then I never planned on selling this bike. It would take five figures to buy this thing from me when I'm done.

$12500. Professionally, that is my price for 100hrs of work on my machine.

Just kidding. I'm not sure how to price it. I have seen a person who is a member here with a similar bike that is currently asking $10000 Canandian IIRC. Don't know how long its been for sale or if he's had any offers. It all depends on the market. Customs are difficult to price. For the right buyer, it could be my number, but at auction with no reserve, I would guess maybe $7500. Unfortunately, the only bikes with proven value are rare, or classics in original condition. Is there really a market for custom KZ's at the moment?

Is there no possibility to ship it to Ireland? It would seem cheaper than building a whole new bike. Or is it difficult to register a bike from the New World over there?

Josh. if u haven’t already, now is a good time to chip off, or grind any casting slag from the head, and barrels. this will aid in the cooling. look closely at the passages that air passes through to get from the front to the rear of the head and barrels.

i took it 1 step further. Pop yosh drilled large holes down through the blocks cooling fins.B)
You should take a minuit to make up an oil gate for the pan as well.
I take it that u will be painting the motor. i learned the hard way , that u must clean the metal well for the paint to stick properly.
i cleaned mine with thinner, and the paint chipped easily. Then i re blasted it and used Acetone. No chipping now. Some of the paint gurus may have a better choice, the Acetone is very heavy on the fumes.

That's a good idea Mark. I was going to ask if it was okay to clean up the casting flash. As for the painting, I'm planning on black cases with polished edge fins. IIRC the best way to paint aluminium is to coat with Alodine first, then prime and paint. I'm just not sure about the max temperature for Alodine. Is Acetone or mineral spirits better to clean the parts before painting?

Finally, I'm aware of the oil gate mod, but not sure of how to do it exactly. Got a link or a picture?
