When you get the drag bars let me know what ones you put on there. I am about to tear apart my 550. Right now I don't plan to modify it much but you never know whats gonna happen when you start working on it. Drag bars are a definite mod for me though.

May I suggest you get it running good before you go for those pod filters. You might have to rejet for them. If you must do them now whatever you do do not destroy or throw out your airbox. You can always re-install it if the pods don't work out or you can prolly get some change for it as lots of people want 'em. As for the drag bars make sure you clear the tank when turning and make sure you do not cramp in the brake reservoir and hose as drag bars leave little clearance between that and the gauges. ;)

THe bike looks good man, im digging it for sure. The pipe looks to be a mac exhaust, but im not quite sure. Keep up the hard work, there is nothing like hearing it fire up for the first time.

plans are all if it works, if it runs, I might sell it (doubt it) or keep it and make it my own.

well, sorry I haven't kept you updated, we're waiting on a battery and clutch cable to try and start it, or some jumper cables to try and jump it off...

These pics may indicate frame and/or swingarm damage. possibly from impact to rear left side.

Would determine extent of any such damage before getting in very deep.

Might explain why the bike came free.

Good Luck! :)

This is a pic of the gauges from my 83 550 spectre. I think they should be the same. Keep in mind this is a canadian bike as well (km/h)

well, thank you, I need to know what the indicator lights are, thats the part that has been ripped off of mine, although about 5 minutes ago we managed to start the bike, it's not drawing fuel (we used a spray bottle) and we get a lot of backfiring. we only had a few small fires (spray bottle missed the carbs) and the bike is ok.
