Then why is Oregon such a pooper on titles. You know your in Oregon when every yard you ride by has 5 cars in it and only one has a title. Kinda like the redneck jokes. Mybe if Oregon would help with titles they'd make more money and help clean up those clunkers. You even have a hard time cleaning your yard up of abandond vehicles cause the reckers wont take them without a title.

Isn't Oregon where it's illegal to pump your own gas?

Nates vintage bike axiom: Riding is the reward for time spent wrenching.
Murphys corollary: Wrenching is the result of time spent riding.

Maybe Back to buying a Bike without a title, I have found 2 different KZ650s around here for sale with no title, Both look good with most all their parts. One runs good for only $150.00 ,maybe parts alone. Or set on it for a title. I believe in saving the life of a Bike rather the butching it up.

most(not all) states will title a bike without one as long as you have a notarized bill of sale, and a police vin check comes back clean and the bike is over 15 years old. of course there are a few states out there that require additional hoops, and some it requires tearing down a brick wall with a toothpick and spoon, lol.

I just got a trade offer for a clean yamaha 550 wothout a title, for my ugly maggot honda with title, going to call him back in a little bit to set up a time to trade.

Indiana you need just a vin check and bill of sale to get the bike titled(and you can have the vin check done a the BMV one stop and ur done, title in hand in 3-4 weeks).

At the beginning I was no, I'd wait for another sale w/title to come round... Now, totally different mind set..

HELL YES I WILL!

As I have learned here in Az, only the frame is titled not the engine stamping... With that in mind, I'm going to find and obtain every POS (KZ900/1000) under $500 I can find and sit on them... Several of the engiine components are identical!

Reasoning.... These old KZ's are getting harder and harder to even find and the prices are going up.... So, have a few non titles just for spare parts is a good investment the way I see it!;)

kind of off topic but I used to rebuild cx500s before I got into KZ's. Compared to KZ's the CX parts are through the roof! You can buy a whole bike cheaper than a stator. A cx500 stator is like gold. I have gone through the no title thing before and it is a mess. In Texas it is a pretty big deal.

In Kansas if buying a bike without a title one just as well plan to part it out. I think the legislature used the moto "Abandon all hope ye who enter here" when it came to the lost title process.

Actually, I've used these guys four times: www.its-titles.com/
And their prices are as good as I have found: www.its-titles.com/15price.htm

I never had a problem, but I turned a good friend on to these guys and he ran into a problem. The problem wasn't with the law, but with the Inspector who had a hard-on for people trying to replace lost titles. I had to go to the Kansas DOT and look the guy in the face and threaten him with a writ of mandamus (a legal paper signed by a judge ordering a public official to do his job); on my way to the court I called his supervisor to see if he would be any more reasonable...he was. Crusty old bastich just didn't like to do his job. Anyway, it's always worked for me, and I even did my last one in Nemeha county.
