Is a cast look yes. I think i will use that. :woohoo:
I use photobucket.com, but i put *IMG size=550* before that *IMG* tag, in order to have correct size on the pictures. You have to remove the other *IMG*that comes with the *IMG* tag from photobucket.
So it is like this, BUT EVERY * is a ( or );
*IMG size=550*http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a127/troxx/KopiavIMG_0081jpg-new.jpg*/IMG*
And the text to the picture her if you want that.
I use Microsoft Photo Editor to size down the pictures. Its in the Microsoft Office pack.

The covers are turning out beautifully.

Wanting to confirm that this is the gun-kote silver finish (sprayed and oven-baked) as opposed to a simple spray-paint finish.
Having never used gun-kote, am becoming more interested because of its durability and resistance to chemicals such as gasoline and brake fluid (thinking brake caliper and master cylinder).
Wondering if gun-kote could also be used on carb bodies? Have heard some gun-kote colors are more durable/resistant than others.

This is oven baked yes, 325 degrees F, (162 degrees C.)
For 1 hour.
First preheat the part up for 120 degrees F, (48 degrees C.) spray the paint, than bake for 325 degrees F, (162 degrees C.)
An old stove, but it works!
Otakar have wrote much about Gun-Kote, and after what i have understood, the only thing that removes Gun-Kote is sandblast or sanding. It even says that on the can.
And its perfect for brake parts.
I dont know if some colors are better than others, i think Otakar wrote that black was the best one.
What i have used now is the silver 2408.
I will also Gun-Kote the engine halfs, this is some spare parts, i think that will be nice. :woohoo:

Oki, some pictures.
The Z1000R has been parked in a wet and moister garage since 1992.
Out in daylight, after been in the dark for 16 years.
The crankshaft is not rusty, but as you can see its not mint condition,,,
Z1000J has been parked since 1996, but luckily in a warm garage. Its a 1100 engine. The plan is to get this beauty up and go before April, I really hope the engine will function after been parked that long, what do you think about this?
The frame was powdercoated just before it was parked.
Here are some goodies I just bought, I will put a new topic under chassis, with measurements for these forks and swingarm. Its from a Hayabusa.
The Pandora's box with Hayabusa parts.
I drove 1200km, from Bergen to Oslo, to collect the Hayabusa parts, and this is from the mountain, on one of the main roads between the to biggest towns in Norway. Because of the blizzard and storm we needed to drive in a long line, and I waited for 4 hours 1200 meters over the sea, for better weather. They closed this road for 2 days just after I passed because of the storm. Its really slippery and bad roads in Norway wintertime.
Well, i will update the work when somethings happen, the 1000R is demantled in thousand parts, and the frame is soon on the way to powdercoating, but I will use time and money on the Z1000J first.

OK, Today i have used the Gun-Kote 2400 gloss black.
And i can really say that the paint is GLOSS.
Lets move straight ahead to the interesting part, pictures!;
Parts after sandblasting. Its some Hayabusa parts to, the handlebars.
Bolt for the head cover.
Ready for K-Phos treatment. All steel material will be treated with K-Phos before paint, it prevents rust, and gives a better result.
Preheating the parts in the oven.
The parts are painted, and ready for heat treatment.
A little view from the attic where am working, while we are waiting for the parts to be done. :woohoo:
Finished.
Its hard the get the gloss finish on the pictures, but belive me, it looks really good!
I used sandpaper on the handlebars after sandblasting, in order to get the fine finish.
So, this is what i have done today, i have a little problem with the sandblast cabinet, its leaking dust out, but some ducttape almost fixed it. :sick:
But, it was a cheap bargain, so...

I am focused on every painted part for the Z1000J, still waiting for the machinist and triple tree.
I am also using this product;
But only since the engine is i the frame, and no plans to do something with this engine before wintertime again. And Gun-Kote will be the preferred paint, and that requires dismantle the engine.
I will do this very soon, and of course take pictures of this paint on the engine.
Am also received this one today;
Gsx1100 (GS1100) swingarm, bought on Ebay Germany.
As for stave church's, the closest one near me was burned down by a satanist for some years ago. He also took some ordinary churches in the same run, just to be sure. :huh:
So if you decide to visit Bergen, Norway, we can do the church stuff at daytime, and bars and bikes at nighttime!:evil:
