she did sit for a year so i know some parts are getting rusty. all will be taken care of.

now for the head.
it was done by super bike mike 20 years ago and i picked it up for $150!
i stripped a gpz750 head for the valves and retainers, had ape srpings installed, milled 10 to be sure she was true.
the cams are andrews with .350 lift and .254 duration.
should be a all around good cam.
( i still have the stripped gpz head if anyone needs it)

the bottom side.
if i had it milled anymore it would have effected the seats. they are right at the edge.
the valves are 35mm on the intake and 30mm on the exhaust.

super bike mike did a serious porting job to this head.
the bowels were really opened up and blended.
the intakes measure 33.5mm at the opening.
this is one fricking serious head!

You say you have a GPZ head laying around do ya? That would be a fun thing to add to my stockpile of futhure build parts...
1977 kz650 c1

bought it because I was told it would never run again...I like to prove people wrong.

$300 for the competition valve job, milling and assembly.
i had all my own parts.
springs, retainers, valves etc..
he also did my j-head for me.
same work but also cleared it for the larger cams.
the 650 head was ported when i got it and the guy tells me it was almost $2000 20 years ago.

ran into a little stumbling block today, i forgot i need to have my upper case bored so i had to pull the whole motor today.
i might just use the kz crank in the gpz cases i have.
time will tell.
i'll keep the board posted.
someday i will be able to afford my kz habit.
