Looking good. Wish I had a garage that looked like yours and had those kinds of "friends" to help me work on it. LOL Wouldn't get much done on the bike though. Bike's coming along great. Keep us up on it through pictures.

Hey all,

Well you beat me to it.... LOL!

Yesterday, I just picked up (smokin deal) a zx-6rr swingarm with shock, rim/tire with rotor and rear brake for my 1976 KZ900-A4.

As you most probably had to do, there is some cutting and grinding required not to mention enlarging the pivot bolt holes in the frame.

Mark, a couple of questions for you if you don't mind...

I see an offset (visual) in the rear sprocket to front counter sprocket. My research findings depict a 3/8" offset Kosman counter sprocket, is this what you had to do?

Also, which chain did you end up using (530, 630...)?

Thanks in advanced,

Dvrpilot,

In your images, see you also have the inverted forks.
Mine, ZX-6R(636) front end. Problem is I'm at an age where clamp on handle bars just are not going to cut it especially on a long trip. lol!

My question is what triple tree top handle bar mounts did you use?

Or did you use a different triple tree top...

Been out of country for a while not trying to ignore. I simply shimmed the front sprocket and grinded out a little more on one side of the swing-arm at pivot point. Doing this while using a
straight edge and tape measure will get you lined up. As far as the triple tree goes. I had couple issues being I needed to mate the ZX6 trees and the KZ neck together. This was like trying to breed a dog with a cat!! Very challenging. I was not going to use the stock instrumentation instead going with Dakota Digital Electronics I needed a different mounting platform all together.
After many Scotches a very smart machinist with a can-do attitude we built a top triple tree to make the project Tight.

good luck

Mark,
So, I've been setting around waiting for my 'dial up' to load up all your photos and finally 'yeeee-uhhhh'. Nice bike man. Very, very well done. Got more pics? :)

Is your frame a flat-black paint? Looks very good.

The frame is painted with a rattle can. The color is "cast iron" 500degree engine block paint. It is very durable and allowed me to touch up things easlily. I painted the engine the same color.
This color gave the bike a Mechanized look. I get a lot of good comments from my buds when they stop by.
