...since the suspension mods. Didn't go too far, my little home made exhaust can is way too loud (ya I know I'm gettin old), and I haven't set up the Acewell speedometer. It doesn't feel at all like the same bike, the handling is quicker but stable, falls into corners like my old Velocette used to and stands back up rolling on the throttle. Big surprise was how smooth the ZX6 rear brake and the Tokico 6 piston calipers are, lots of stopping power but very prgressive feel. The suspension is vastly superior to the old forks.
Decided I really didn't like the look of the wrapped pipes so that came off today, sanded and repainted them with the old standby, VHT header paint.
It's resplendent with it's firecracker red body work and green wheels. Eventually it will be black with those lovely green wheels.
Surprisingly, doesn't look like anything needs to be adjusted or changed right away. Can't get the neutral light working with the engine running, but never had one before until this bike. Trash canned the Buck Rogers dash on the tank, the gas gauge wasn't accurate anyway.
Overall I'm very pleased with it and my Ducati lust has subsided for now. The bike feels much smaller and lighter now. I upped the gearing from the 15/41 it was with the 630 setup to 17/41 530 conversion and it still pulls hard.
It really didn't cost a fortune, really just a lot of back and forth between the machine shop and the bike wreckers, and the results are like night and day. I'm not real impressed with the Acewell tach - It's plugged right into the stock harness and it's jumping back and forth 1000rpm at idle. can't really see it riding anyway. I hope the speedo works.
Sorry no pics, wife's gone out and took the camera, maybe tomorrow.
I'm thinking about putting a steering damper on, and distant plans call for a GSXR aluminum subframe and solo track seat to further carve off weight, and change to a coil rear shock. Maybe change the mirrors, add some LED marker lights, eventually fix that cam cover leak and come up with another muffler without spending the ridiculous prices they're asking for exhaust cans - have you ever taken one apart? - perforated tube wrapped in fiberglass in a snappy looking aluminum tube. That's it. $300, I don't think so. Automotive resonators look promising...

I've got a stock can off a 94 FZR600R that should work with a little fabrication. It's got a couple scrapes on the outside from when my buddy laid the bike down, but it's still solid and sounded great when the oil pump went out and seized the motor. If you're at all interested I can pull the can off the header and get some pics for you when I get home tonight.

Thanks for the offer but I'm looking seriously considering a 14" "performance" car resonator.

A short ride around today, still no speedo and still loud. Got caught in the rain, but I didn't care!
