Well, it's been awhile, and the bike is morphing a bit. The engine is done and back in the frame, the tank and seat have been fitted, I think the Vetter Windstar has been set aside, and here is where I'm at:
Rear shocks are Harly air, a set of dealer take-offs when somebody wanted a REALLY low Harley. Raising the front forks in the triple clamps an inch match the shorter Harleys.
Rear floorboards are off a 'Wing (e-bay, of course!) (Don't remember what year)
Exhaust pipes are off an '82 KZ1100, I whacked off the mufflers, sanded down the (very pitted) black ceramic coating. What you see is white VHT primer. I'll top that with VHT flat silver, then VHT Clear gloss.
Mufflers are Heartthrobs from (gasp!) JC Whitney. The one is just wired up right now to measure for bracket.
headlight bucket, speedo, both left and right handlebar switches, throttle twist grip, are all e-bay things from some other bike. THe speedo is a Kaw, and I replaced the stock electric speedo sender unit with a Kaw mechanical one.
I'm not happy with the way the second seat fits (or fails to fit!) down around the back of the frame, and since I am thrying to do this without modifying the GPz frame, I just might have to make my own seat pan out of some ABS. The taillight lens will be from a '58 Ford, because I've always liked '58 Ford taillights. In fact, I think the direction of this bike was cast when I bought the taillight lens off of (you guessed it!) e-bay.
The styling emphasis is strongly "Machine", with all the exposed SS socket head bolts. I'm planning on fabbing my own side covers, but I'll be leaving as much frame exposed as possible. Brake lines will be stainless steel Goodridges.
So, there it is as of this afternoon.

I'm listening...and watching. I can almost hear the rumble now.
