I agree. every time i look at a modern fender on a clasic , i dont like the bulky bottom leg(my own included). By painting the lower leg black , it seems to hide it, and the top ,being more of a natural shape, seems to stand out more.

1/2 & 1/2 vote here too.

If you do any riding in the rain, I can forsee lots of water spray coming up the engine and under the tank.
I had my bike die on me one rainy day. The coils under the tank were soaked and shorted out.
A short fender can do that.

Well, I'm of the opinion that the visual of the fender matches with the body work much better now. The new fender has a round/organic shape to it that flows very nicely with the fuel tank and goes nicely with the big/beefy front forks/triples and uber-wide (comparitively) front wheel. Round headlights (not GPz square) also go nicely with the rounded front fender. I like that front fender waaaaay more than the square-edge orignial. It's what I have on my 'J' and on my ELR clone; the road-spray isn't any more of an issue than it was with the stock fender.

The bigger deal is this: what you like. Either way this bike is great.

Oh, and I like 'green'.

i had a chance to tinker on the bike today,
fabed a rear brake arm to the swing arm,
i need to get it welded in place.
fabed some 1" risers for the front fender to work as i
was so determined to keep the 18 inch front wheel.
installed rear brake pads, bled the brake too. ;)

the time sert kit i bought was wrong need the big serts for my exhaust studs

i was thinking my METMACHEX Swing arm bearings are shot,
i was under my bike the other day and i noticed some serious movement in the forward and back direction,
not good,
so i took off the swing arm today and wouldn't you beleave it they are tapered roller bearings, not the needle bearings i ordered last night :S

WRONG BEARINGS.

I need these.

03062 koyo japan
03162 koyo japan

guess ill start looking for a new set as these are pretty mullered, pitting in the rollers and grooves in the outer shell,
been in there years

haven't found a supplier yet anyone have a idea?

did order something right new fairing on its way from the uk.
