I have a question for you Davo. I see that you are using clubman bars on your bike. I have a 77 650 C as well and that was one of the years that Kawasaki in their infinite wisdom decided to run the wiring thru the bars. Did you get different switches or did you drill the clubmans to allow the wiring to go inside? Your bike is looking cool BTW, good luck with the maiden voyage.

Yeah the wiring was not so fun. I had to pull the wiring out of the bars and I notched the control housings with a dremel to allow the wiring to run outside along the bars, I saw it in another forum topic somewhere around here, I think there was a good pic if I recall. If not I can post a pic sometime of how it looks on mine.

I came home last night determined to get the bike on the road. And I did.

I finished hooking up the carbs and pods, plopped the battery in and added fresh gas, and after having not operated since late September, it started up second kick. It's a great feeling. I called a few of my friends and let them listen to me rev it up in the garage, they thought it was great.

It's not over yet though. I suppose now I get to go through the awesome but not really awesome process of tuning it all up. The plugs came out a bit wet-sooty so I need to figure that out. And the gas tank leaks at the petcock, and I need to get that solved. And I think there is an exhaust leak. All minor issues I hope.

I did however find that the charging system is working properly, which is a huge relief, since I didn't think it worked when I had it running last fall.

Okay I finally got it all together and she's back on the road. Still needs some tweaking and tuning but I'm terrorizing the neighborhoods already until I get my license and tag updated then I'm good to go. It's a damn good feeling.
