Long time listener, first time caller.
16 May 2025 19:52 - 17 May 2025 08:20
Hello all,
I signed up in 2003 when I bought my '76 KZ900LTD, but for some reason I never posted an introduction, maybe I was too busy working or riding. Now 22 years later (was 2003 really that long ago?) a co-worker invited me to The One Moto Show in Portland (Oregon) and inspired me to drag what has become my retirement project out from under the tarp and hopefully get it back to a runner. It ran great when I bought it, then developed lifter noise and I sold it to a college kid friend looking for a project. Unfortunately, he tore it apart, bent a valve when he put it back together and after tearing it down a second time he gave up on it. I felt bad so I bought it back from him and stuffed it into the corner of my garage while time slipped away from me and it sat for 15+ years. The silver lining is that it was just a broken valve spring retainer, and confirmed big bore kit (which explains the power wheelies).
Thanks to you all in advance for the vast wealth of knowledge, information, inspiration, and motivation on this forum. And thanks especially to KZQ, Bill is amazing!

Wow Bill, I knew you had "a couple" of cool bikes, but checking out your signature line I didn't know you had that many cool bikes! How is it that I have never been over to your shop?!?
Thanks for the welcome, I'm going to need all the help I can get.

17 May 2025 16:40 - 17 May 2025 16:42I've a few bikes sure and they run, cool, but they hardly compare to the efforts of some of the real builders, mechanics and racers active on KZR.Wow Bill, I knew you had "a couple" of cool bikes, but checking out your signature line I didn't know you had that many cool bikes! Many persons just threw their stuff away, moving or to cleanse the household. I have just stuffed my junk many more years then most. I'm a hoarder but still serve persons needing the old stuff. Ironically just got a call/need for an ole 900cc cylinder with pistons to match. Just nice to have junk on hand. And junk is an endearment, good stuff.

A couple years back I seriously considered parting it out as it's worth more in parts than whole, but I just couldn't bring myself to break up a complete, numbers matching bike (even if it is in pieces).
