New Member from Northeast

Hey all, been lurking a few days. 

My dad bought this '82 KZ305 brand new.   Drove it a bit and then sold it to his brother who never drove it, who sold it to his cousin, who sold it to another relative.  We lost track of it as it last was started probably some time in the mid 80's.  I managed to track it down and it's now in my garage. 

My dad doesn't know I have it yet, so I'm going to work at getting it running and surprise him with it.  It has 1500 miles on it, and is all original . 

Here's a pic of it on day 1.  I've since power washed it and started going through everything.  Carbs are off and on my bench. Polishing up what I can.  It is cleaning up nicely, but here's what it looks like in it's "barn-find" grime and glory.

Thanks everyone.  I've already started putting some effort into cleaning it up.  Got a few pieces off to clean better and have given it a good bath.  It's coming along and cleaning up nicely. 

Shot of progress so far.  I've further pulled some of the chrome peices off and the exhaust to polish them up.  Also just completed an oil change.  Carbs are also off the bike. Need to get a battery and inspect the carbs and then we can go through the process of getting it started up.   Once i take it around the block, i'll put some real elbow grease into shining everything back up to it's former glory. 

But it's been fun working through this so far.   Goal is to keep it in original form.
