Possible one other thing to try. Here in Michigan I can pay about $100 and get my insurance company to draft up a surety bond, Take that to the DMV and apply for a title... Beyond that I got nothing.

Fill out a bunch of paperwork, certified letters to previous owner (deceased), state inspections, visit the courthouse, see a judge with all your evidence, and then the judge can grant or deny your request for the title. Looked into the Vermont deal and it doesn’t seem overly complicated. If I go that route and can’t get it titles here after the Vermont registration I’ll just keep it registered there. Can’t wait to get this hurdle out of the way so I can get started on this. Has anyone here gone the Vermont route?

We used the VT registration process to obtain a KY title on an unmolested-original Z1 we purchased for a song out of the PNW. Had been parked since '86, no title or registration, only the plate from '86 to go on, PO nowhere to be found, all OR state DMV records scrubbed in 2001 due to inactivity. Months of chasing leads went nowhere.

Mr. Bob Conger is owner, Navy Vet & generally a stand-up guy who owns & runs NoBullUsedMororcycleParts. We met him & his family years ago when they were adjacent to us in the swap meet at Mid Ohio. With the assistance of www.nobullusedmotorcycleparts.com/titles.html , we were successful in obtaining the KY title using the VT registration process. Link is direct to their title-assistance page. Good luck.

I think you should verify that Ohio will accept that for Ohio registration before committing to it. Also, are you sure you can maintain Vermont registration without being a resident of that state?
