New z1 900, can any one help identify?

Hello! New to the forum and just purchased what I believe to be a 1975 z1 900. I'm new to vintage bikes, and currently own a 2011 Kawasaki z1000 as my daily.

The SN on the bike is z1F 52085 and Z1E 75450, are these too far apart to be matching? Is this indeed a 1975? Another concern is the silver frame and the dual front discs? Kinda lost on this one

The bike is currently not running... I hope I can get her going, it has some interesting mods, especially interesting is the double chain and double sprocket set up.

Any info or opinions would be greatly appreciated !!

Real Z1 chassis but not a lot else, tank looks KZ, underside weld seam exposed. Front fender is off an Ltd, front forks don't have the reflectors so not Z1, guessing whole front is not original due to dual disc and drilled rotors and wrong master cylinder, Motor #'s too far off to match but the carbs look like the may be correct, hard to tell from the pics for sure, tail section and tail light are correct.
This is not to take away from the bike! It's still a real Z1 and has built in value with that. Ride it, enjoy it and collect parts to put back to original if you so desire.

The frame is Z1B mfr date July or Aug '74. Engine is Z1B and that number range was used on bikes built in 2/75. Way too far apart to be original.

Also, hard to tell from your photos but there's alot of original parts missing, but it looks like a solid bike. Good luck with it.

Thanks for the info guys, was kind of an impulse buy to learn how to work on an older bike, I figured a lot wasn't origional.

I paid 500$ for it do you think I did alright? Just trying to figure out how much money I should actually put in so I don't loose when I go to sell it down the road

Yes, there are some. Take a look at www.kzrider.com/ . On the right hand side about 2/3 of the way down at that link you'll see a list of manuals that are clickable. Depending on which model frame, engine, etc. you have you might find one or more of them helpful. Ed

A bargain no doubt about it. Your stated attitude towards it is perfect. It can be a great deal of fun and unless you get crazy with NOS parts it will likely be worth more than you have in for the duration. Cheers.
