My 650 is missing the grab bars too, but I found that grabbing the frame under the seat, just behind the side cover works great. Then it's just step down hard and lift upward and she's on the center stand.

Or you could get a grab bar. I got mine of e-bay but I did see some new ones sold somewhere. I'll try and find them.

nice one, yea thats kind of the spot my hand naturally landed..

so do you hang onto the handlebars with your left hand while doing this?

i never wanted to take my hand off that grip for fear of dropping my bike :(
