I want to ride again!!!

Just found this neat looking website. I parked my bikes about 11 years ago because it was just too painful to get my leg up on my rearset pegs. Now that I had my hip replaced, I want to ride again!!!!

I really want to put my old Kz1000 Superbike back together for the street. It was in my living room until I lost my house. Its now in my storage area along with 15 or 20 boxes of motor, and frame parts. I really miss riding this bike. Its been apart since I got my first GSXR750 back in 1986. I been seeing some real good looking old Kz1000 AMA Superbike era streetbikes. Thats got me kicking around putting mine back together. When I built it back in 1978/1979, I made sure I had the wiring for a headlight, tail light,brake light, a oil pressure light, and of course, a ignition switch!!!

I will be picking a few people's brains when I start piecing this beast back together. I hope I can pull this off in the next year or so. I lost my welder extraordinaire, my machinist, my cylinder head guy, and my parts source when I moved from Chicago to Arizona a few back. Hope I can find a nice small dealership in the Phoenix area that likes old Kz motorcycles. My local Kawasaki dealerships all have employees that were born after my motorcycles were made!!! And they are on drugs with their parts prices too!!!

Importers from Japan would go crazy for that bike.

But, somethings are priceless! especially if you bought that new.

Been digging around for a few pictures of my KZ back when I built it. Like I said, I rode this bike on the street for years. It handled like a GPz550 with 130 horsepower!! The people I raced against in WERA back in the day wanted to know why I had a ignition and headlight switches on the bike. None of them believed I rode it on the street!!!!

It does not have any type of stand on it. I used to lean the bike up against a tree or someones house when I stopped somewhere on the street. The stock kickstand and bracket were just too heavy in my book. Plus when I got the frame back from DesRoches, they had removed the kickstand bracket anyway. It was only 440 pounds in street trim on my scales!!!!

Don't feel too bad. I worked with a guy who owned and raced a 1958 Porsche 356A Carrera GS when he was young. He got tired of racing and sold it for peanuts. Today they sell for $350,000 - $400,000! Now there's a guy who is really sorry he sold his race toy! Ed

Thanks, Mr. TA. I did sell my spare Rob North frame on Epay a few years back. I had many emails on that frame when I sold it. That was my second biggest mistake I ever made was selling that spare frame. Biggest mistake was selling my S1, I still have nightmares about that mistake!!!
