Gotta love the cagers.

Thankfully it looks like damage was minimal, all things considered. It looks like you made a pretty straightforward fix out of it.

Rock on. It would be devastating to have to throw away a bike that beautiful.

Bikers are a rare breed.
Harley riders are a dime a dozen.

Just make sure your front wheel lines up with the rear. Z frames are not the strongest.

Remember, don't work on your bike so much you never ride it.

After obtaining a straight lower leg to replace the subtly tweaked one, I put the forks back together on Friday evening. I learned shortly thereafter that the battery had apparently spent too much time with too little charge. Had to break into the piggy bank to snag a new battery. At that point, it was down to waiting for decent weather.

Today was a perfect Colorado day to do a road test. The bike is absolutely straight and feels fantastic. Still need to tweak some carburetor stuff to get it really dialed, but it was close enough to rack up about 50 miles in a shakedown run. It's nice to have it going again. Just that short ride was enough to clear a bunch of cobwebs from my head.
