GREAT PIX 650ED!! Thanks for those, I like the Lawson slide but they're all great vintage shots I remember well. Been going to Laguna Seca since 1977 and haven't stopped yet. Superbike planet currently has some very cool vintage shots from Laguna 1980 and 81, I was there.......

Back when it was Winston Pro and Camel Pro I used to watch the races at the Pocono Raceway; those guys were unbelievable! I saw Lawson, who was running in 1st place, head into turn one way too hot and in the last nanosecond decide to take the runoff road so he didn’t crash (it was very close!). He had to make a U-turn and come back down it to get on the track, by which time he lost 10 positions. By the time he got around the track again he had passed 9 of the 10 (the 10th may have been Fast Freddie). By the time he got around the track again Lawson was in 1st again and he went on to win the race. Amazing!

The races back then were really exciting for sure especially during the 1015cc era. MotoGP should be fun next season with the 1000cc limit again, can't wait!
The left exit pipe is a one-off by MotoCancelli.com. Very low key but big power everywhere, even down low the bike pulls well and the sound is incredible too. I got the Kerker when I went with the Racecrafters paint scheme as my avatar pic shows. Pipes back in 70's and early 80's didn't make power, they literally ruined it with such huge collectors. The only advantage gain was through the weight lost by removing the insanely heavy stock systems. Pipes back then robbed the low and mid range power and you were lucky to even gain anything way at the top. On the Kerker I installed a tapered swedged collector from coop engineering and welded in place one of their spikes to the center of the 4 tubes where they come together inside the collector to increase velocity and scavenging. I added length to the back section for two reasons, better mid-range torque and the kink in the megaphone was placed right at the shock so it curved around it tucking in much tighter. I went back to the black body work and will save the racecrafters suit for my KZ900 in which will some day be an exact replica, built motor, magnesium wheels, the whole 9.

Bike looks good both ways and with either pipes.
Welcome!
I would stop and stare too with a bike like that. No matter which version.
But even do that with mine. And it's not even complete yet. Just love the Z look.
