Hello From Chicago 81 KZ750 before & after PICS

Hey everyone!

This is My first bike, 1981 KZ750E. I cant wait for nice (consistent) weather.

carbs are currently off, had to repair the overflow tubes, two had large cracks and leaked gas, they are fixed.
jets are out, my airbox was broken when I got her so I replaced it with pods and am going to get a few up-sizes of jets.
hated the red and gold and always wanted a green, black and silver bike so . . . all the tin and plastic bits are off.

When I got her, the seat was just the ugly yellow foam, so I went the the fabric store and picked up some marine vinyl and threw it on the seat in 30min so I could take her for a ride.

Wow, great job on the paint, amazing color. And man, that is one of the tidiest shops I've ever seen.

Thats the shop where I work, I have to keep it clean, we have too many projects running through it for it to be dirty.

I will keep everyone posted with new work.

Finished the paint.

I will finish the carbs and put all the paint on this week. Hopefully I can tune her well and go for a ride next weekend.

What a difference. yea! yea! yea!

I got her running pretty well without any load, idled a little above 1000rpm after she warmed up with the choke off (a first).
very quick response from the throttle, revved very smooth.

I cant wait to get her out on the road and put a load on the engine. Then bring her back into the garage if everything is ok and sync the carbs.

Only glitch, the new drag bars cause the front brake banjo off the reservoir to contact the schrader valve fill for the shocks and leaves me about 2 inches short for the grip, so I am going to weld on some extensions to the ends of the new bars tomorrow.

**good news** its supposed to rain all week so I am not loosing any riding time to hardware, just mother nature.

in the meantime I can pretend I am on the open road.

WOW! what fun, she definitely needs to be synced, but all in all she is fast and smooth.



After filling up my car for $68 on monday, I am glad to have her. I go through about a tank a week, so this will be nice on the pocketbook this summer.

I cant wait for the Mods vs Rockers event this summer!

Very impressed, Great work on the paint. Love the color. Sounds like you pretty well have it under control for this being your first bike.:lol: Don't let this Kaw get out from under you too quickly.:S They can be a beast when you let them run free. :evil:
