Hi there. Picked up my 80 KZ 750 LTD today. Got it from a guy on a local riders forum. 500$ for a "running" KZ.

Here's the good one.

The parts bike. I use that term losely. I'm glad I bought it to have extra parts but this thing was a real hunk of shit. The seat and gas tank are just balanced in that pictures and the axles are held in place by cotter pins. Also no air in the tires.

Made a mess after I got everything in the garage.

Finished the night but cleaning everything up. 5 boxes of spare parts.

I'm not sure what the parts exchange is like but that frame can go if anyone wants it.

So now that thats out of the way. I'm not sure what I want to do with this bike. I think just do a clean restore. Nothing crazy. Probably have everything re chromed, paint it and chop the seat.

Look forward to posting here it looks like you've got a good community.

Hi Ski. Looks like your new friends had a couple of old friends waiting to welcome them into the garage. Care to introduce them? Good luck with the KZ. I haven't been here too long but most of these guys seems like the friendly sort and very brainy when it comes to KZ's. Pay no attention to the little spring fever dustups. From what I gather it's an annual event which subsides as the weather gets warmer and the fleet comes out of mothballs. Then again I could be wrong and this place is about to go off like a Chinese firecracker. (jk)(I think)

Take it from me cuz I found
If you leave it then somebody else is bound,
To find that treasure, that moment of pleasure,
When yours, it could have been.

I believe it is a correct frame. I think its deceiving because none of the motor mounts were in so it was literally just sitting in there. All the parts that I took off it seem to match up with the frame on my good bike. Least I'm hoping, otherwise I have a lot of scrap metal.

The KZ will be the 5th bike along the line.

I have previously had an 89 GS 500 which I really regret selling.

Learned how to ride on my old Shadow ACE.

Sold that last season and this is currently in my garage.
08 FZ-6

And my roomates 01 GS 500. He just bought this bike and will be learning how to ride this season. Not mine, but its in there.

Howdy. I bet that frame is correct. Since you're new... Kawasaki.com has diagrams in the owner info section. It seems easiest to search by year only without entering a vin or bike model or anything, just choose a year then pick a bike from the list. Once into the diagrams click stuff, even the diagram reference numbers. There's a cross-reference within the diagrams.

The closest matches to your bike are the 80-83 KZ750-Ltd-4 chain drive.
The 81-83 KZ650-CSR shares a bunch of parts as well and have the same frame.

Thanks Martin. I haven't even had time to do any research yet. Today is crappy so I will probably poke around on here. Thats a great starting point though, especially for ordering parts from the dealer.

As already mentioned, there's lots of good info on kawasaki.com, including parts diagrams, part numbers, models sharing same part, availability, etc.

Here's a link for help with navigating the site and finding information.

Let us know if hit a snag.

Yeah that frame is pretty disgusting. The powder blue trailing arms really sets it off.
